Nothing Beyond His Reach

"Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear." Isaiah 59:1 (NIV)

Have you ever been just a tad too short, your arm not quite long enough to reach something on a high shelf or retrieve an item that somehow found its way under the couch and into the farthest corner possible? (You know, that toy your dog somehow shoved under there).

We’ve all been there.

Or have you ever repeated yourself over and over, growing increasingly louder each time, only to realize the other person hasn’t heard a single word because they are too far away or something is obstructing your voice?

We all know what it is like to have arms too short to rescue a lost item or ears too dull to hear someone calling out.

Thankfully, that is not true of God.

Isaiah 59:1 reminds us, “Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.” What a comfort that is. Because if we’re honest, there are times when our guilt and shame try to convince us otherwise. They whisper that we’ve gone too far, failed too many times, or wandered too long. They tell us there are certain sins, struggles, and shortcomings that are simply beyond God’s reach.

But Scripture tells a different story.

The Lord is not overwhelmed by our sin or our failures. There is nothing we bring before Him that causes Him to throw up His hands and say, “I can’t help with that.” His arm is not too short to save, and His ear is not too dull to hear.

When we turn our hearts toward Him in repentance and ask for His help, He hears us. He meets us with grace. His arms are there to save us, lead us, guide us, and remind us that we never walk alone.

Not only does He forgive His children, but through His Holy Spirit He transforms them. He works patiently within us, shaping our hearts and minds so that we become more like Jesus.

The God who saves us is also the God who sanctifies us. He does not leave us trapped in our sin, nor does He leave us to overcome it in our own strength.

Whatever burden, failure, or struggle you may be carrying today, remember this truth: there is nothing beyond the reach of God’s saving arm and nothing you can bring to Him that He cannot hear.

The voice of shame says you’re too far gone. The Word of God says otherwise.
